Lissa Druss works with clients in government affairs and lobbying, crisis communications, municipal relations, media relations/training, corporate communications, internal/external communications strategy and social media. She is known to react quickly and work tirelessly at any time, day or night, to protect and enhance her clients' reputation. 

 

Lissa spent 21 years as a television journalist in Tucson, Los Angeles and Chicago and is a nine-time Emmy award winner. During her eight years with Serafin & Associates Inc., her clients spanned across the country and internationally with large and small corporations, celebrities, municipalities and various law-enforcement agencies. Some of the accomplishments Lissa led:

  • Crisis communication and media relations strategy for Gloria Schmidt, the attorney representing the brothers in the Jussie Smollett case in Chicago

  • Crisis communication strategy for a DuPage County municipality facing an alleged 30-year cancer scare by the U.S. EPA; currently ongoing

  • Introduction of the world’s largest co-living space provider to Chicago’s media market; Is currently the Germany company’s registered lobbyist

  • Introduction of Spain’s largest generic pharmaceutical company to potential U.S. partners and leaders of the U.S. Congress

She is the recipient of the 2016 Filipo Mazzei Award for Excellence in Public Affairs given by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans.

 

In 2018, Lissa received one of the highest honors from the Italian government. Druss was inducted as a Cavaliere dell’ Ordine della Stella d’Italia, or Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy. It was bestowed upon her by the President of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Sergio Mattarella. This honor is a direct result of her’ deep commitment to promoting the Italian culture and supporting the Italian American community in the Chicagoland area.

 

Lissa also guest lectures and is a regular contributor on television and radio stations, offering perspective on crisis events and public affairs issues.

Throughout her broadcasting career, Lissa spent more than 13 years with CBS television both in Chicago and Los Angeles before ending her television career as the executive producer at Comcast SportsNet Chicago, winning the 2009 Chicago Journalism Award in Sports.

 

She has written and produced for news, entertainment and sports. During the 1990s, she covered headline stories including the Persian Gulf War, the Oklahoma City bombing and the O.J. Simpson murder trial.

 

Lissa has also served as a media consultant for the U.S. Department of Justice twice: with the police department in San Salvador, El Salvador (1996) and for a major east coast city (2014).

  • Federal and state legislative relationships for national not-for-profit civics organization

  • Media and community assessment for a U.S. Department of Justice Collaborative Reform initiative for an east coast city

  • Management of crisis communications during the City of Beloit, WI police department transition of authority; was acting Public Information Officer for the City of Beloit, WI 

  • Communication of critical information to parents facing a charter school teacher’s union strike

  • Mitigation of media exposure of a nationally known figure during attempted bribery scandal

  • Mitigation of media exposure of a national not-for-profit embezzlement scandal

  • Mitigation of media exposure of negative stories focused on two separate large investment banks

  • Crisis communication training for more than 100 Fortune 250 executives

  • Creation and enactment of first-of-its kind aldermanic and community outreach program for a large-scale municipal project

  • The largest U.S. fundraising drive for the victims of the Amatrice, Italy earthquake

She is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Jarrett Payton Foundation and serves on the board of Milan – Chicago Sister Cities International. Lissa is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Get Growing Foundation. She volunteers with the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans, is on the engagement committee of The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii Italian American church and is a member of the National Italian American Foundation. Lissa also spent more than ten years on the executive committee of Bears Care, the charitable arm of the Chicago Bears.
